White Sox Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Third baseman Joe Crede went out of his way to refute the idea that he and his representation made a critical error in not following up the White Sox's inquiries in July 2007 concerning a contract extension.

As it now stands, Crede is a free agent-to-be, coming off season-ending back surgery last year and still fighting through back problems. The back problems landed him on the disabled list last month, and manager Ozzie Guillen is saying he can no longer count on him with the latest flare-up.

It became news in the spring when Sox general manager Ken Williams admitted that the organization reached out to Crede's agent, Scott Boras, about a contract extension last summer, only to be informed that the plan was for Crede to explore the free agent market when it was his...
