Rockies rally to beat Florida 18-17 (AP)
There was a time that no lead was safe at high-scoring, high-altitude Coors Field. That was all supposedly changed with the introduction of the humidor in 2002 that brought sanity to mile-high baseball. Friday night, then was throwback night. The Colorado Rockies pulled off the biggest comeback in team history, rallying from a nine-run deficit to beat the Florida Marlins 18-17.

Rockies Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

It has been a painful season for the Rockies, and not just because they have fallen to the bottom of the NL West after winning the first NL pennant in franchise history last year.

Wednesday, left-handed starting pitcher Jeff Francis was placed on the disabled list because of left shoulder inflammation. Friday, first baseman Todd Helton went on the disabled list because of lower back inflammation. Earlier this season, second baseman Clint Barmes (sprained right knee), shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (torn tendon, left quad), left fielder Matt Holliday (strained left hamstring) and right fielder Brad Hawpe (sprained right hamstring) were all on the disabled list at the same time.

Helton tried to play through the lower back inflammation for nearly three weeks.

The blasts returned to Coors Field long before the fireworks. In a throwback to the pre-humidor days, Colorado homered six times and beat the Florida Marlins 18-17 on Friday night after trailing by nine runs in the biggest comeback in Rockies history. Chris Iannetta singled home the winning run off Kevin Gregg in the ninth inning.

At last check, four Boston players led fan voting at their positions for the July 15 game in New York -- and that doesn't even include manager Terry Francona or any of his pitchers.

Helton placed on 15-day DL, Koshansky recalled (AP)
A Colorado Rockies' season soured by injury and inconsistency took yet another ugly turn Friday when slumping slugger Todd Helton went on the disabled list for just the third time in his career. "It's definitely a relief to get a chance to feel better and hopefully be productive when I get back," said Helton, whose strained lower back landed him on the 15-day DL.

Their replacements put on quite a show in their absence. Jeff Baker drove in four runs and Ryan Spilborghs hit a two-run single in the 11th inning to rally the Colorado Rockies past the Florida Marlins 6-5.
