Brewers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Much of the early trade buzz in the majors right now centers on the Brewers' interest in Cleveland left-hander C.C. Sabathia, who is on the market.
General manager Doug Melvin confirmed that special assistant Dick Groch was in Chicago on Wednesday to monitor Sabathia's outing against the White Sox.
"We've seen him pitch a couple of times," said Melvin, who declined to elaborate on any interest he has in the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner. "We look at a lot of guys."
The Indians reportedly had scouts looking at Class A Brevard County third baseman Taylor Green, the Brewers' minor league Player of the Year in 2007. Cleveland is believed to be taking a close look at the Brewers' prospect-laden Class AA Huntsville club, too. Green, 21, was...
Hardy, Hall homer to lift Brewers over Pirates (AP)

Ben Sheets was shaky, and Pittsburgh did everything it could to wear him out. The Pirates just couldn't get a big hit against Milwaukee's ace. Sheets labored through 5 2-3 innings to earn his 10th win, J.J. Hardy and Bill Hall each hit a two-run homer and the Brewers beat Pittsburgh 9-1 on Friday. The Pirates were miserable with men on.
Brewers downplay Sabathia trade rumors (AP)
If the Brewers are considered a front-runner in the C.C. Sabathia sweepstakes, manager Ned Yost wanted nothing to do with it on Friday. "A rumor's a rumor," Yost said before Milwaukee's 9-1 win against Pittsburgh. "We don't pay attention to it too much." According to recent reports, Milwaukee's surplus of minor league talent has given the organization an upper hand in the competition to acquire...

Longtime Dodgers assistant general manager is the only female close to becoming a GM. Will she get a shot?
Jackson's single leads Diamondbacks to 6-5 victory (AP)

As Conor Jackson's two-run single bounced through Milwaukee's drawn-in infield, the Arizona Diamondbacks poured out of their dugout as if they had won a title. All they had really done was reach .500. But it felt like a monumental achievement for the slumping NL West leaders. In one of the more improbable victories in team history, the Diamondbacks overcame a five-run deficit in the ninth inning to...

Cameron's 9th inning single lifts Brewers (AP)

Mike Cameron's rough road trip took a turn for the better Wednesday night. Cameron singled home Russell Branyan with one out in the top of the ninth, his second RBI single of the game, to lift the Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. "I wasn't trying to think too hard," said Cameron, who was 4-for-23 in the first eight games of the Brewers' 10-game trip that ends...
Among the empty seats at the ballpark (AP)
The view from section 219, row 14 in the Metrodome wasn't bad, though being in the middle of a long row meant a night spent pasted to the tiny seats. Minnesota nice only goes so far, so there was no chance of getting up and crawling over people to the aisle unless things got real serious. For 26 bucks each, the upper deck seats weren't exactly a bargain, but not much is in baseball these days.
Hardy homers twice as Brewers beat Diamondbacks (AP)

J.J. Hardy is in a groove. Randy Johnson is in a slump. Hardy homered twice and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-6 on Tuesday night, handing Johnson his sixth straight loss. Hardy, who is 12-for-29 (.414) on Milwaukee's 10-game road trip, has been hot since resting his sore left shoulder.
Pass out the midterm report cards (Yahoo! Sports)
We don't grade on a curve, and that's why only the Rays get an A-plus while three teams are given Fs.
Reynolds' 3 RBIs lead Arizona past Milwaukee 6-3 (AP)

For the first time in a while, the Arizona Diamondbacks looked like a first-place team. Slugging third baseman Mark Reynolds homered, doubled twice and drove in three runs as the Diamondbacks beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-3 on Monday night. With the victory, the Diamondbacks avoided the embarrassment of falling below .500.
Milwaukee activates Eric Gagne from disabled list (AP)
The Milwaukee Brewers activated closer Eric Gagne from the 15-day disabled list on Monday and optioned righty Mark DiFelice to Triple-A Nashville. Gagne had been out since May 23 because of right rotator cuff tendinitis. Gagne, who won the 2003 NL Cy Young Award with the Los Angeles Dodgers, is 1-2 with a 6.98 ERA.

Interleague action benefited the AL, Jim Edmonds benefited from Chicago, and home cooking benefited many.
Slowey's shutout sends Twins past Brewers 5-0 (AP)

No more National League foes remain on the schedule for Kevin Slowey and the Minnesota Twins to master, unless they're able to reach the World Series. Half the season still remains, so Minnesota must prove for three more months its place as a legitimate playoff contender. If the Twins can capture the successful spirit of these last two weeks, though, they'll be right there at the end.
Parra, Brewers end Twins 10-game winning streak (AP)

The maturation of Manny Parra is happening faster than expected. Parra allowed two hits in seven innings to win his sixth straight start and the Milwaukee Brewers beat Minnesota 5-1 on Saturday night to end the Twins' 10-game winning streak. Bill Hall had a two-run double and Ryan Braun and Corey Hart also had RBIs for the Brewers, who have won nine of 12.
Mauer's homer in 8th extends Twins' streak to 10 (AP)

After two close calls, Joe Mauer finally lifted one over the fence. Mauer hit a go-ahead solo homer in the eighth inning to help the Minnesota Twins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 Friday night for their 10th straight win, all against NL teams. The catcher is known for hitting line drives, not home runs.
Johnson powers Braves past Brewers 4-2 (AP)

Chipper Jones missed his fifth straight start, which usually means a loss for the Braves. Kelly Johnson, his replacement in the No. 3 spot of Atlanta's batting order, filled the void. Johnson drove in three runs to back Jorge Campillo, and the banged-up Braves rallied to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 Wednesday and avoid getting swept in the three-game series.
Bush, Brewers hold off Braves (AP)

The Milwaukee Brewers suddenly are winning consistently on the road. That doesn't mean they're making it look easy. Salomon Torres and the Brewers had to survive a scary ninth inning before beating the Atlanta Braves 4-3 on Tuesday night. Dave Bush earned his first road victory of the season, scattering four hits over seven innings, but had to watch in the ninth as Torres almost blew a 4-1 lead and...
Sheets throws complete game, Brewers beat Braves (AP)

The best stat of the night for Milwaukee manager Ned Yost was the "zero" for pitches thrown in the bullpen by his relievers. No relief necessary. Ben Sheets was on the mound. Sheets gave up only four hits in a dominant complete-game performance, Mike Cameron hit a two-run homer and the Brewers beat the Atlanta Braves 4-1 on Monday night.
Brewers use 4 homers to down Orioles, 7-3 (AP)

Prince Fielder is feeling good at the plate again, and he's got the numbers to prove it. Fielder hit two home runs, Corey Hart and Bill Hall also went deep and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-3 on Sunday for their sixth win in seven games. "They all feel good to me," Fielder said of his homers.
Weeks activated from disabled list (AP)
Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks was activated from the disabled list Sunday and started against the Baltimore Orioles. Weeks had been out since spraining his left knee trying to turn a double play in Colorado on June 6. Corey Hart and Craig Counsell hit lead off in his absence, but Weeks returned to the top spot in the order against Baltimore.
Hart homers and McClung, Brewers down Orioles 3-2 (AP)

Two months into his new assignment, Seth McClung's sudden success still isn't going to his head. McClung continued his superb June, Corey Hart hit a two-run homer and Milwaukee beat Baltimore 3-2 on Saturday night, snapping the Orioles' four-game winning streak. "I feel like I can be replaced at any time.
