Blue Jays Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Right-hander Jeremy Accardo was the savior for the Jays last year when he filled in for the injured B.J. Ryan and recorded 35 saves.
This year, Accardo has been mostly missing in action as he has been on the disabled list with a forearm injury since May 9.
Recovery from his problem has been slow and frustrating for the reliever, who Friday was with his teammates in Anaheim after flying to Los Angeles to be checked out by surgeon Dr. Lewis Yocum.
"I'm here just to try to get some peace of mind, to hear him tell me it's not the ligament and that I can just start letting it go," Accardo said. "I'm just a little timid, a little shy to really release it. "It's just that mindset I'm looking for where you can let it go without being afraid of something...
Weaver pitches gem, Angels beat Blue Jays 8-2 (AP)

A.J. Burnett didn't feel like talking after giving up eight runs for the third time in six starts. The Los Angeles Angels' linescore against him said enough. Howie Kendrick drove in three runs, and the AL West leaders got homers from Torii Hunter and Garret Anderson to support Jered Weaver in an 8-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.
Cairo's 3 RBIs lead Mariners past Blue Jays (AP)

Maybe Miguel Cairo is one of those players who was born ready. Cairo, making his 16th start of the season and just the second at second base, drove in three runs with two doubles in the Seattle Mariners' 4-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night. The 34-year-old utilityman has built an 11-year major league career out of hard work and preparation.
Bloomquist singles home game-winner in ninth (AP)

It's not often that Willie Bloomquist is in the position to win a ball game with his bat for the Seattle Mariners. He took instant advantage of his chance. Bloomquist hit the first pitch from Shawn Camp for a game-winning single in the ninth-inning that scored Raul Ibanez from second base as the Mariners rallied from four runs down to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-6 on Tuesday night.

Halladay overpowers Seattle in 2-0 shutout (AP)

Even with five complete games already this season, Roy Halladay had a lingering feeling that a little piece of his pitching was lacking. He found what was missing, at least on Monday night. Halladay pitched his 10th career shutout, dominating the Seattle Mariners and limiting them to just four singles in Toronto's 2-0 win, the Blue Jays' third straight victory.

Blue Jays' Burnett pitches 7 shutout innings (AP)

With his curveball diving and his fastball topping out at 96 miles per hour, A.J. Burnett made life easy on catcher Rod Barajas, and rough on the undermanned Atlanta Braves. Burnett pitched seven shutout innings, Alex Rios drove in the only run of the game and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Braves 1-0 on Sunday.
Wells leads Toronto Blue Jays past Atlanta Braves (AP)

It's not often that Atlanta's Tim Hudson gives up a home run. When he does, he usually loses. Hudson surrendered homers to Vernon Wells and Rod Barajas and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Braves 9-5 on Saturday, dropping Hudson to 1-5 this season when he gives up a home run. Wells, who had three RBIs, led off Toronto's four-run sixth with his eighth homer of the year.
Teixeira homers in Braves' 4-0 win over Jays (AP)
Bobby Cox has seen plenty of fine pitching performances as manager of the Atlanta Braves, but few as good as the one Jair Jurrjens delivered Friday night. Jurrjens worked eight innings, extending his scoreless innings streak to 21 2-3, and Mark Teixeira backed him with a homer and three RBIs as the Braves beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-0.
Rolen homers off Volquez to help Jays beat Reds (AP)

Even before the game began, Edinson Volquez knew this wasn't going to be his day. Volquez was tagged for a season-high seven runs, including two on a home run by Scott Rolen, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-1 on Thursday night. The hard-throwing right-hander, who was 3-0 in his previous five starts, struggled with his command, his footing on the mound and was gone after 4 1-3...
Bruce, Griffey lead Reds past Jays in 10 innings (AP)

Jay Bruce figured bunting for a base hit might shake him out of a slump. Six innings later, a fly ball worked much better. Bruce drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning, Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 602nd home run and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 on Wednesday night.
Dunn, Ricciardi dispute takes strange twist (AP)
The dispute between Cincinnati Reds outfielder Adam Dunn and Toronto Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi took a strange twist Tuesday. Last week, Ricciardi criticized Dunn on a Toronto radio station, accusing the slugger of lacking passion for the game. "We've done our homework on guys like Adam Dunn and there's a reason why we don't want Adam Dunn," Ricciardi responded to a caller asking about...

The Blue Jays made Cito Gaston's return to Toronto one to remember. Scott Rolen hit one of his team's three home runs, A.J. Burnett pitched eight strong innings and the Blue Jays routed the Cincinnati Reds 14-1 on Tuesday night in Gaston's first game in Toronto since being rehired as manager. The crowd chanted Gaston's name as Toronto's long-dormant offense finally showed some life.

Blue Jays beat Pirates, avoid sweep (AP)

Cito Gaston and the Toronto Blue Jays finally got to have some fun on the final day of a difficult road trip. Gaston earned his first win as Blue Jays manager in 11 years, getting home runs from Scott Rolen and Adam Lind in an 8-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Toronto snapped a seven-game losing streak and scored its most runs since a 9-8 loss to the New York Yankees on June 5.

Blue Jays call up pitcher League, demote Mench (AP)
The Toronto Blue Jays optioned outfielder Kevin Mench to Triple-A Syracuse after losing their seventh game in a row Saturday night and recalled right-handed pitcher Brandon League. Mench saw his average drop to .210 after going 0-for-2 in a 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh. He has no home runs and five RBIs this season for a team that has struggled to score -- Toronto has only 21 runs during its losing...
Pirates beat Gaston's Blue Jays again, 6-3 (AP)
Even with a new manager, the Toronto Blue Jays keep finding ways to lose. Saturday, during the second game of Cito Gaston's tenure, the Pittsburgh Pirates totaled only seven baserunners and never had a runner standing on second or third base yet still sent the Blue Jays to their season-high seventh consecutive loss, 6-3.
Halladay OK after taking line drive to head (AP)
A day after being hit in the head with a line drive, Toronto's Roy Halladay said Saturday that he was "fine" and would not miss his next start. The news wasn't as good for fellow Blue Jays starter Shaun Marcum, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right elbow. Marcum, second in the American League with a 2.65 ERA, was to fly to Florida on Saturday to be examined by Dr.
